Gao Ye is invited to participate in the “Belt and Road Initiative: Beauty in Diversity” calligraphy and painting commemoration event to celebrate the brilliant 11-year journey of BRI.

    Gao Ye, born Gao Yeyun in 1947, is from Qingtian, Zhejiang. She is a painter and composer. Gao is a member of the Chinese Musicians Association, vice president of the Zhejiang Female Flower and Bird Painters Association, director of the Zhejiang Provincial Charity Federation, and honorary curator of the Wushan Ming Art Museum. She has served as an executive director of the Zhejiang National Painting Association, vice president (now advisor) of the Zhejiang International Art Exchange Association, director of the Wu Fuzhi Art Research Institute, and ambassador for cultural and tourist exchange of China Media Group.

    Gao is a national first-class artist, a member of the China Traditional Culture Promotion Association, art advisor for the International Exchange Committee of the China Association of Trade in Services, and a director of the Overseas Chinese Artists Union. She has created series works such as Colorful Ink and Blue Porcelain and Lucid Waters and Lust Mountains. Her publication Gao Ye’s “Lan Bamboo” Technique includes the work Lan Bamboo (four-panel screen), which was selected for the Ministry of Culture’s “Exhibition of Outstanding Female Painters at the 4th World Conference on Women in 1996.” Her work Qi of Heaven and Earth is permanently collected by the Hangzhou National Painting Institute.

    From 1993 to 1995, she composed symphonic works based on four Tang poems, including Song of a Pipa Player and A Moonlit Night on the Spring River, as well as 16 music pieces based on Song dynasty poetry, such as Watching the Tidal Bore and Cicadas' Quick and Sad Chirps. She collaborated with Zhejiang TV to create the music video New Rhythms of Song Ci, which won the Ministry of Radio and Television’s Grand Prize (1997-1999) and the Ministry of Culture’s Cultural Award. In 2003, her large-scale symphonic and choral concert Tang Style, Song Rhyme premiered with the Zhejiang Song and Dance Troupe. In 2005, she composed the symphonic chorus New Rhythms of Song Ci for Zhejiang University’s anniversary celebration. She also composed theme music for TV and film works such as The Best of the Republic and Xu Xiake’s Travels.
