Liu Zhongli, pen name Chengshi, was born in December 1949 in Longchang, Sichuan Province. He is a Party member, a retired military veteran, a national first-class artist, and a national gift artist. He enlisted in the army in 1968 and was awarded the title of “Active Contributor” in the Chengdu Military Region in 1970. He participated in the 1979 China’s Self-Defense Counterattack against Vietnam and received the “Glorious 50 Years in the Party” commemorative medal in 2021.

He currently serves as a director of the China Popular Literature and Art Research Association, an art researcher at the China Association of Oriental Culture Studies, and a member of the Art Committee of the China Elderly Calligraphy and Painting Research Association. He is also the vice president and academician of the Brush and Ink Cultural and Art Calligraphy Institute. In 2024, he was awarded the title of “France-China Cultural Ambassador” by the Contemporary Art Institute of France and received the honor of “China’s Most Outstanding Contemporary Art Master.”

His representative works Qi Fills the Universe, High Integrity and Noble Character, and Proud and Aloof are permanently collected by the Jiao Yulu Memorial Hall, Berlin University of the Arts, and the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome. He has published works such as Glory of China Commemorative Stamp Album and Great Prestige—Gathering of Renowned Artists of China’s Art Circle. He is a national first-class artist, an art advisor for China Xinying student programs, a honorary art consultant for China International Education channel, and one of the top ten leading figures in world art.
